iCarly electronics for the tech-savvy girl on your list
Monday, December 1, 2008 -
It makes sense that a television show about a girl and her friends who turn a middle school project into a web show would give rise to a line of consumer electronics aimed at tween girls.
The new iCarly line from Nickelodeon, Viacom Consumer Products, and Imation features an array of affordable gadgets There’s a video camera, a digital camera, a web cam and a micro photo viewer.
The most expensive iCarly device is the $99 Karaoke Machine. Girls can sing their hearts out to popular songs, reading the lyrics from a built-in, 5-inch black and white screen. The machine has dual microphone inputs, so duets are a go – as long as there’s an extra microphone around.
Girls can also view themselves on the screen while rehearsing for their big performance. For even bigger crowds, the system can be hooked up to a television.
If singing isn’t her style, check out the combination of a Digital Video Recorder ($80) and an Action Cam Accessory. ($25)
Girls can shoot video with the camera, helped by the accessory pack which is a perfect director’s tool and includes a steady cam mount, on-camera lighting and a detachable, reporter-style microphone for interviews. Once the video is captured, transferring it to a computer, editing, adding effects and uploading to iCarly.com is easy.
